Overview
The Business Analyst will be responsible for understanding business processes, gathering requirements, analyzing data, and providing actionable insights using SQL and BI tools. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with data-driven applications, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts, along with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements for data migration from legacy EDW systems to Databricks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand existing ETL workflows, business logic, data dependencies, and reporting needs.
- Define and maintain detailed mapping documents for data sources, staging (STG), EDW, and BI layers.
- Conduct workshops with business and technical teams to validate transformation logic, slowly changing dimension (SCD) rules, and data quality expectations.
- Prepare and maintain Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), data flow diagrams, and solution documentation.
- Act as a liaison between Business, ETL Development, QA, and Architecture teams to ensure end-to-end alignment.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning, test case validation, and sign-off with business stakeholders.
- Review and interpret Informatica mappings to support migration and transformation validation.
- Validate, reconcile, and ensure data quality between legacy EDW systems and Databricks tables.
- Assist in implementing CI/CD processes using GitHub, Bitbucket, and modern orchestration tools.
- Support Unix scripting and stored procedure-driven ETL transformations where applicable.
- Provide guidance on best practices for data migration, transformation, and orchestration.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts including STG, EDW, and BI layers.
- Hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter, SQL Server, and Databricks.
- Proficiency in SQL for data validation, reconciliation, and transformation logic analysis.
- Experience in data validation, defect triage, and reconciliation during migration or platform transition projects.
- Familiarity with Unix scripting and stored procedure-based transformations.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control tools (GitHub, Bitbucket), and workflow orchestration.
- Strong documentation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Exposure to the Hospitality domain is an added advantage.
